Desirée Tolchin
Desirée Tolchin is a Brooklyn-based Director and Producer whose work explores memory, longing, and the quiet ways people change over time. Drawn to the tactile qualities of Super 8, 16mm, and other aging image formats, she creates films rooted in observation, collecting fragments of everyday life that sit somewhere between diary, documentary, and fiction. Through wandering narratives and intimate moments, her work examines how we hold onto people, places, and dreams as they slowly drift into memory.
Her work has screened at festivals such as Brooklyn Film Festival, Film Diary NYC, Tacoma Film Festival, Sydney Women's International Film Festival, Tallgrass, Fisura Film Festival, Defy Film Festival, IC Docs, Mystic Film Festival, Oxford Film Festival and Still Voices Film Festival. She was recently selected for the Franklin Academy Cinematic Arts Residency, where she will develop a new diary-inspired hybrid nonfiction film.
She has held positions such as Co-Founder / Director of Operations at Ithaca Experimental Film Festival, Development & Production Coordinator at Honor Society Films, Technical Manager at Park Portable Equipment Center, Executive Director at Park Productions, and finalist in the Coca-Cola Refreshing Films competition where she produced her first commercial.
